I was wondering if anyone has tried installing Dynamats in the door panels or down under the interior carpet. If so, does it really do much to kill some of the noise?

I know they're marketed more for the stereo side of things, but I was just trying to kill some of the road noise that I have. If I'm running over 65 I can barley even use my phone without having to explain what all the background noise is.

I have a 96 2 door that I'm running flows on (40 series or something)....but It's more the tire hum on the road. I'm keeping these tires so I know I can't be rid of it entirely....but anything may help.

I added two layers on my doors in a truck one time. I put one layer on the inside part of the door shell and another layer on the part with the door panel. You can also layer it with the special vinyl they sell for deadening which I heard is awesome. It really cut down the amount of noise coming into the cab...but I also put it on the floor as well. Good Luck

You can use dynamat or breadboard, and there are cheaper options if you do some research. All you need is enough coverage to dampen the vibration of your body panels. You dont need 100% coverage. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi This is a good place to start researching it.

Sure you can cover EVERYTHING but Im honestly not sure if you'll notice the difference between 50% and 100%. Just put the vinyl over the top.

Also something that works awesome.. just clean your fender liners and then put a coat or 2 of rhinoline on the inside and outside. That will help a bit. Sounds odd but it works :)

Thanks for the tips....I actually thought about rhino liner if not just for the clean look in the wheel wells. I'll take a look at the thread as well.

Appreciate it.

dynamats probably your best brand out there. I did my truck top to bottom but havnt yet drove in it, plus my exhaust is too damn loud regardless of how many layers to you add lol

Dynamat then add some more carpet jute with the foil on it, and that will greatly reduce noise and heat

now guys remember there are sound deadener materials (dynamat, hushmat etc) thick rubber that absorbs vibrations.. and there is sound proofing foams that stop sound waves from traveling thru them.. aka like in recording studios....

High end cars use both and thick under carpet pad.. now ideally you use a mat for the vibrations from the subs.. then a layer of foam for the road noise, and a thicker carpet matt for heat, and road sound.. there are also some expensive tints that dampen a few dB of road sound that ********* thru your windows.. better door seals also help... there are many things that you can do to quiet the cabin noise..

just keep in mind each product focuses on different areas,,, and wheel wells, firewall, and lift gate generate the most sound in these SUVs
