I have this noise coming from the passenger side mid-lower dash, about every 15 seconds. I haven't taken anything apart yet as I have no daylight, and don't care for flashlights in the dark when it comes to pulling things apart.

It happens if I have the blower off or on, but stops if I set it to recirc. Doesn't matter if it's set to hot or cold, or defrost/floor vent/dash vent, or what speed setting, leading me to think its NOT the blower motor.

When I have some daylight tomorrow I'll start ravaging the plastic panels to see if I can pinpoint it. But just hoping maybe someone else has experienced this anomaly and has a fix, or may be able to point me in the right direction.

Thank you in advance! :)

I have a similar sound coming from behind the glovebox area. Mine sounds like a slow-speed fan bearing going out but the fan has no effect and so far it's only happened 3-4 times in the last year. I can't get it to do it no matter what I set the HVAC controls to but once when it was happening I set it to recirc and it stopped. Now I can change from recirc to back and it won't do it. Hope one of us can figure this out. From what I can read there are 3 blend motors and one is the recirc.

I replaced my recirc actuator and it fixed my problem. It's not easy to do.

Yeah I read your description about prying up the dash etc sounds terrible. Guess I'll forget it for a while unless somebody thinks of a better method

The only other method is removing the ducting and that involves complete disassembly of the entire dash cage, probably an entire day of labor from what I could see and what I read.
