I bought an '05 and discovered that all the tools for changing the tire had been removed. Does anyone know the dimensions of the square at the end of the rod used to lower the spare? I plan to make my own, because on e-bay they're abour $50 incl. shipping.

Thanks.

Yes, the green one for all late model GM trucks. A mechanic friend's now referred me to a salvage yard about 70 miles away that has 1 entire kit from an '05 suburban for $50 delivered. I'll probably go with that. I don't understand why these things are so scarce. I'd think that you could salvage the kit off of almost every junked truck, and they used the same kit for a lot of different models over a lot of years.
