Mistakenly purchased AC Delco wires (9748RR) off Amazon for $38. I meant to by the GM OEM (748RR) for $72. Is there a real difference in the plugs? Should I send the cheaper ones back and by he OEM?

What's wrong with the 9748RR wires? That's what I bought and work perfectly fine. Am I missing something?

I think the "9" prefix indicates 'replacement' or aftermarket. The 748 plug wires come with UU, RR, WW, etc. etc. suffixes, most all are available with the "9" prefix and are usually lower priced.

I'm trying to figure out if the suffix (UU, RR, etc.) is only the color or if it indicates something else. You'll find both referenced for the 2009 6.2 motor.

I bought a set of Napa premium wires and not one problem. They were about $66. Whatever you get, make sure you don't discard the plug boot shields from the original wires. Most aftermarket wires don't come with new ones.

I have 117K on the clock and wondered if I need to change out my wires? I do not notice it running poorly other than a shutter sitting at a light. I do not believe is an issue as the last 3 chevys I have owned all did it. The other two being Z28s.

You may just get a lot more mileage out of them. The insulation on mine was noticeably degraded at 124k. I did plug and wires in one shot. Why wait for it cause any more performance problems? But as they say, your mileage may vary.

True enough. Plugs were done like 20k ago. Im assuming the standard AC Delco wires are just fine?

Guess the original AC Delco it is. Rock Auto has them almost same price as Amazon. RockAuto was like 67 and Amazon was 72.
