I getting ready to do a tune up, so i just called the dealer and they said i should use ac delco 41-993 platinum plugs, which run 6.50 each. do i really need to run the platinum plugs? or could i just get regular ac delco plugs

The regular's will just have to be changed sooner.

I went with the Autolite AP605's. They have raised ribs on the ceramic section to help prevent the spark from traveling to the metal base of the plug from the spark plug wire connector.
Most people will argue to use the double platinum's, for better erosion resistance, but I don't mind changing the plugs again in 100K
Don't forget to put extra dielectric grease in the boots @ both ends. I found out the hard way they don't put enough.

**** the dealer order online rock auto, ebay...or go to parts store like Advanced Auto...
I run e3's no problems!
