The alternator might be the case with mine too. I have noticed somedays the gauge goes down to about 8-9volts and then it shoots up to 14 volts kinda has a mind of its own, but never throws a check light to alert there an issue.

mine does that as well... just bought my 01 yukon less than a week ago.. when i stop at a stop sign or a stop light ill notice my voltage and rpms drop... im not used to the vortecs yet.... been drivin a 90 suburban the last 5 years... ill prolly have the alternator tested here in a few days..... if thats the case im definately gonna add a bigger alternator when i swap my stereo over...

Me too! Sounds like a real high pitch that only a dog would here lol (I guess I'm a dog because I can definitely hear it). Sad thing is I just picked it up today.

I'm going to take it to the dealer and have them check it out (I'll mention the alternator).

My 2008 does not have the wine. I can hear very low music in the back ground when the radio is off and the NAV is on.

When I installed my aftermarket radio, my speaker whine went away. So, I figure it was either the factory stereo or a bad ground (loop) in my Overhead DVD which I re-routed the ground and 12v to the 12v ACC behind the new radio.

Any whine like that is likely an alternator problem in a newer (07+) truck. That diode that goes bad causes a barely audible whine or hum in the audio system. I have had it happen in several GM vehicles that I have owned.

I finally got a chance to bring mine in for service and they said they could not duplicate the problem. I told them to keep the car until it was fixed. I guess I need to tell them to check the alternator. Anyone else have a hard time getting the techs to hear the whine?

I haven't had mine looked at yet, but I have a speaker whine only when in CD mode. Thought that was kind of weird.

I had mine checked and they replaced the alternator, the whine is very low and you really have to listen for it but it is better.
