springs vs coils and springs

has anyone ever just used lowering springs to lower their ride?.... any negatives to be worried about I see a lot of folks with spindles and springs just wondering what would be better with 22" rims.

Ok... so i see alot of guys on here do springs in the rear and spindles up front does this drop in the front require different springs or do they leave the stock springs and struts up front and what about the rear stays stock except for the springs.. Im new to truck suspension i don't want to "F" it up
