I have a 96 tahoe 5.7 4 wd. It randomly spits and sputters. Sometimes stalls. New fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, plugs wires cap and rotor. Cats were replaced 6 monthes ago. New o2s. Maf. Code for egr came up yeseterday and replaced. Same crap today. Somebody plz help

what prompted you to replace the regulator and why not replace the entire injection spider instead it has been redesigned for many years now because of injector issues and should include a new regulator. also have you rechecked your fuel pressure late to see if the system is still at fault or to see if it is ignition related?

It was sluggish starting and my "mechanic" friend recomended the regulator. This actually did improve the slow starts. I havent checked the fuel pressure but i will this weekend. What kind of $$$ am i looking at for a new spider injection??

if you get injector assy at local store for an oem unit you are looking at $400+ do not buy other then delphi or acdelco.

for ignition you will want to run ohm test on the ignition coil.

Pull the plugs again, and check them. I found my #4 cylinder plug is getting fouled every 1000 miles, due to piston rings being extremely worn. It is loosing oil between oil changes, but not smoking from exhaust.
