I'm having trouble tracking down what is causing my starting issues with my Tahoe. When starting from cold, the engine will turn over repeatedly, but usually will not fire (or will fire after 10-15 seconds), however, when I turn the key off, and immediately attempt starting it again, it will fire right up. If the engine has been recently run (10-15 minutes) it will start right up, otherwise the starting issue recurs.

Thanks for any insight

I'm having the same problem since I installed a supercharger. My tuner says it's a fuel bleed-off problem and either my fuel pump is allowing fuel to drain back to the tank or my fuel pressure regulator is leaking, and I'm pretty sure it's the regulator. You might try a fuel pressure check and see if it's bleeding off, then go from there.

^^^What he said.

Next time you go to cold start it, turn the key to "on" for about 7 seconds, then off for 7, then on for 7, off for 7, then straight to start as you normally would and see if it starts up any easier. The regulator and the valve in the fuel module are two somewhat common failure points that can allow the fuel system to lose it's prime. The valve in the fuel module is built into the pump itself so you have to replace the pump to fix it. Aftermarket fuel pumps are notorious for failed prime valves.

I fixed mine today- it was the regulator. When I swapped it from the old intake manifold to the new Whipple fuel rail a small o-ring got left back in the mounting hole and didn't get transferred. Probably not your problem but thought I'd post my solution since it could still be your regulator. I found a service kit for my FPR, p/n 12570622 that had all the O-rings, filter, etc so I didn't have to buy the entire FPR. Keep in mind mine's an '02 so yours might be different. I know at some point they started putting the regulator in the tank with the fuel pump. Mine fires right up now so far.
