Starting issues, Help?!

Just started happening about a month ago. Starts like a beast first thing in the morning, no problem there. But throughout the day if I leave it park for about 30 mins or more and try to crank it, it takes a little while to turn over. Sometimes I have to crank it a few times to get it started. Its an 01 LT 5.3. I searched around the web and most stated fuel regulator or fuel pump issues, fuel reg is practically brand new though. Fuel pump, not sure how old. Anyone had this issue before and fixed it? Any help/input is appreciated. Thanks.

Thats what I'm thinking also, trying to see if anyone has the same symtoms and it wasn't the pump. Probably about time to replace it anyways.

Sometimes replacing just the fuel pressure regulator will resolve that issue, but if that fails, bet on the pump going bad..

I read that a lot when googling the hard start issues, since it was pretty cheap I picked one up @ advance auto for about $50, hoping it would fix it because when I took out the old one it looked all nasty, bent, and corroded but sure enough the problem is still there. Looks like i'll just go ahead and do the pump. Whats the average going rate for replacing a fuel pump at a local mechanic?

Figure about 3-4 hrs. labor to replace since you have to remove the tank. Go pick up a pump at your local dealer's parts dept before taking it to a mechanic. Some shops will charge you 40-60% above retail for an OEM part if they get it from the dealer instead of you. Refrain from using aftermarket fuel pumps as they typically do not last very long. Let us know if that takes care of the issue.

This is very true. I don't know if you looked at any of the fuses in box under the hood. I had an 01 Silverado giving me problems starting up cold. I bought the new fuel pump and took it to my mechanic. He ran a diagnostics test first just for the grin, and come to find out it wasn't a bad fuel pump at all. Instead I had a fuse the was burnt out. I can't remember which one other than it was a 10v. Hope this helps

Thanks for all the help guys. But Im stumped. It still has extended crank time, in the morning it always fires up no problem. Heres what has been replace recently ( within the past month) Fuel Pump, FPR, Coolant Temp Sensor. Just about every other thread I read it was either the Fuel pump or the FPR. Any other suggestions, It has a code P0442 (small leak in the EVAP) and about 2 months ago code p0300 (Random Misfire) also popped up. I cleared the code using a scanner. And it took about a week or two for the check engine light to reappear, but this time the P0300 wasn't there but the P0442 was. Help please?! This is driving me crazy.
