Steering Rack Replacement

Did the Detroit Axle rack too in an 09 Esky ESV. For $219.56 using a promo code and free shipping with a lifetime warranty as well as postage paid for the core, I couldn’t pass that up.

Knock on wood, it’s a great rack so far. Keeping my original rack for a rebuild at a rack shop so I will not be getting D/A lifetime warranty since I not returning it.

Do those inner tie rods come off the rack ? thanks

@blondie70 The steering rack comes with the inner tie rods already installed along with the boots, if that’s what you’re asking

Yes...thanks Dustin. How do you grease the inner tie rods or even is it neccessary ? Talking about under the rubber boot ! Thanks

@blondie70 Do not need to grease the inner tie rods on these ones and there is no grease hole

The truck is just coming up on 190k miles. The D/A rack has about 50 miles on it. Detroit axle says lifetime warranty on the racks. I only discovered it by peeling the warranty card off the box and reading the fine print.

Good find on the Detroit axle. I was about to head to the junker hope for the best. Will be tackling that and new outers this weekend

Im going to install mine this weekend. I paid 30 bucks for the power steering cup seals from autozone and they had to be shipped to my home but later found other power steering seals on rockauto for $9. Im going to hold on to my OEM Rack as well. Just in case the new one starts to leak the lifetime warranty they promote sounds good but if they are rebuilding quality parts I shouldnt have a problem
