Steering wheel pealing

A couple of weeks ago i noticed my steering wheel was faded in some parts, well over the past few days it has been super hot and the leather on my steering wheel is tearing open and it scratches my hand every time i grab the wheel. Is there anyway to fix this besides getting a steering wheel cover?

You can buy a new wheel for a few $100s or you can do what I did when this happen to my Grand Cherokee and just buy a $20 cover.
