Just bought a 99 Tahoe Sport. When driving and hitting any pothole in the ground the steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and I don's know what it is. It only shakes on the drivers side. Just bought this truck so it could be anything.

Sounds like a death wobble to me you could try shocks and a steering stabilizer kit to start then if not check to see how much pressure is in the tires,or if they are balanced,it could be the tires,it could be the steering box(with the tahoe off and key on see how much play is in the steering wheel just turn back and forth a little to where u notice the wheels just start to move) may need two people,it also could be bushings in the front end, this problem can be caused by a number of things hell my buddy replaced everything that he could think of and all it was,was that there was to much air in the tires lol let me know if you get it figured out

unknown at this time.
look into a loose steering box or worn out pitman arm and others like tie rods and bushings. Do not install a steering stabilizer unless it is needed and all play is remove in the steering. It will just hide the problems.

Don't forget to save some play for yourself when you are out pimping your hoe on those southern Cali streets with those big wheels.:pimp:

Has it ever been aligned? My bet is that it's most likely a pitman, possibly tie rods too. When I had bad bushings it wasn't nearly that bad, I don't think they have as big of an effect on the wheel shake (unless they're completely gone...)

Same thing happened to me, had the tires balanced and an alignment problem went away after having those things done.
