what is the best kit to use for my new Pioneer ABIV8200 NEX? I want to retain factory features like Onstar, Bose, chimes, fader, balance etc.

I don't have Onstar or Bose, but I bought my kit in WalMart, chime kit and installation kit. I know Crutchfield also has great products, bought from them yrs ago. All their products come with great instructions.

I used PAC products ( wiring harness and steering wheel control adapter); great stuff and instructions were clear. They also have support if needed. OnStar didnt work in my 02 since it uses an outdated signal.

check with your local stereo shop and get the part number for the metra harness. they are pricey ( mine is 85) but the one harness keeps all the features including steering wheel control and powering up the factory amp.

Did you install yourself or have the shop install? Metra makes separate main harness and steering wheel control interfaces for my 02 Denali but not a single unit. They use 2 separate plugs on the factory harness and the Metra is an actual programmable box just like the PAC stuff for the steering wheel controls. The main wiring is one separate plug/ harness and the steering wheel control is another that connects to the box.

I have an 03 Tahoe with Bose and a Pioneer AVIC-7100NEX.

I used a PAC RP3-GM11 to work with the existing Bose and a PAC SWI-RC for the steering wheel controls. The RP3 plugs into the Pioneer and the SWI plugs into the RP3. Sounds complicated but it's not.

I got the RP3 because it was cheaper, but it doesn't support OnStar. PAC makes another model that supports OnStar, but it costs more and I didn't use it anyway.
