It goes BEHIND the panel under the rear window. It has a template for the cutout in the plastic where the sub goes, as well as a grill. No loss of cargo space at all. Do a search for MTX Thunderform and check it out.

Can this be wired to work with a standard Bose premium console?

Sure; just make sure to buy a compatible sub. Most Bose subs are 2 ohms so measure yours with a multimeter and check, then run the wire to the new sub instead of your old one. Also note the Thunderform has depth allowances in their literature so pay attention. Most shallow mount subs fit.

Thanks, do you know if the stock Bose Premium amp will power it, or will it require an external amp? Don't mind my ignorance, I know next to nothing about car audio. All I know is that the stock sub is underwhelming.

The stock amp should do fine, just be sure to match the ohms, it's probably 2 ohms. If you put in a 4 ohm in place of a 2 ohm it will be half as loud because it would be half as efficient.
