I know the stock exhaust is 2.75" so I'd need a 2.5 in/out muffler but does anyone know the stick length?

I have an 05 but still have the stock exhaust in the barn. The muffler body is 24 inches and the pipes actually go into the muffler and are welded on, The opposite of most mufflers.

I still have the stock muffler and pipes on my 03 Tahoe with the 4.8. It has a single pipe coming off the cats splitting into a dual pipe that goes into the muffler , then exiting into a single tail pipe, which I don't think makes sense. I'm just curious when you guys changed the muffler , did you keep that little dual split or just cut it off, so it's a single in and single out ? Any benefits in keeping the dual split ? I'm thinking of just cutting it off and going single in/ out. Anyone know off hand the inlet size of the pipe? I measured really quick the tail pipe and I thought it was 3 inch not 2.75. Sorry , not trying to hijack your post just trying to add a little more info to it.
