The radio on my '99 Yukon has the typical GM radio problems......lights out on most of it.

I understand that the radios were the same mounting through '02, with the black squeeze clips to unlock them from the dash.

Has anyone successfully swapped in an '03+ radio with the RDS option?

Thanks!

I don't think it will work. Different electronics. Although...I don't believe the standard radios have to "talk" to the BCM like the Nav Radio's do. So, if you can get one to power up on a bench and get sound out of it, there is no reason it wouldn't work in your truck. The plugs are different, but you could just move the wires around.

Does anyone know if it can be powered up on a bench and work normally?

I did some googling of that radio. I don't think it will work for you. Apparently it has to see the appropriate VIN number from the BCM. I did stumble across a few sites where the people opened up the radio and removed (unsoldered) some chip on the radio board and this would make it work.
