Hey guys, first-timer here.

Been the happy owner of an 02 Yukon XL SLT for over a decade now, it's been a great truck, pushing 200k, and the stock speakers are falling left and right, I don't think the sub even works anymore (some of you might argue it never did, if my search results are any clue)......

I'm looking for some plug-n-play replacement speakers for the doors and sub, does anyone have some brands and models they could recommend? I think I'm gonna go with the Rockville 8" for the sub, ebay has 'em for $40 shipped, pretty sure that's half what GM wants, even with my discount....

I'm not looking to replace my HU or overhaul/change really anything, just wanting some reasonably priced speakers I can take the old ones out and replace 'em with.

Thanks in advance y'all

Depends on what you really want to spend.. I put Rockford Fosgate Primes in my tahoe.. they are $60 a pair from rockford, but you can probably find a better price. Those are the lower end factory replacements, but they sound really good. I want to upgrade to the punch series soon.

You get what you pay for.. I spent $40 on my bro in law some really cheap ebay speakers for replacements because his factory ones had blown.. and they are causing his radio to short out.

I'd at least go with a good name brand: Pioneer, Rockford, etc. to avoid any headache later.

Thanks Chuck, what size were those Primes, for the doors, I take it?

And I mean, yeah, no I'm not looking for "cheap" speakers, I'm just looking for a good speaker that beats the OE in price and performance. I don't know for sure, but I don't think that's an unreasonable request? Plug-n-play for half price? I've done it in some other vehicles, surely there's something out there like that for my XL?

Is the Rockville sub a POS? I've read good things about 'em, and for $40, that's perfect for what I'm wanting to spend on one.

6.5s all around. http://www.metraonline.com/ will tell you all you need to know about your speaker depths, and whatnot.

I've personally never heard of Rockville so I can't say whether, or not it's a POS.. Can't really hurt to try for $40.

$60 a pair can get you the Rockford Punch series from Sonic Electronix. I think you will need a shallow mount for the sub; probably run about $75 -$100. Not familiar with Rockville.

I've had Rockford 5.25 Primes in all 4 doors on my 05 Tahoe, real great speakers, you can turn them up loud as you wanna go. But right now i have 6.5 Kicker components, which imo, carries a wider range of highs and mids. Anything well known brand wise will be better performance. I think the OE speakers are just a magnet and some paper :p

x3 on not knowing Rockville. Any REAL sub will beat stock. (Kicker, Rockford Fosgate, JL, etc.)

Thanks Chuck, for that link, and all, for the input, I appreciate it.

This is one of the posts I found after searching, talking about the Rockville shallow mount sub:

http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showpost.php?p=780568&postcount=42

So I think I'll pull the trigger on it, and some kicker components for the doors. That should do the trick!

But hey, quick question: that metra link says I've got a 10" sub? Thought it was an 8..... and why's it tell me I've got tweeters? Am I just not seeing/hearing 'em?

Any OE sub in a yukon is an 8". May be able to fit a 10". The tweeters it lists are an oval shaped speaker behind the speaker grille on the front doors. Then the rear ones are in the pillar next to the rear glass.
