i do agree being a diesel mechanic myself they do cost more to maintain
but since they are built much stronger then a gas engine they last much much longer becuase they are compression combustion

you can get 3 times more miles out of any light truck diesel on the market today when proper maintenece has been done
ive seen power strokes durmaxes cummins detroits cats with 250 go 500k miles and still run like champs
my grandfather had a 97 one tone dually ford powerstroke with 408k miles on it when he sold it
and it never had to have any major repairs done
