I bought an OBD adapter & bought the Dash Command app.. everything on the app seems to match up with my gauges & seems accurate.. But its saying my timing is way off, +22 and will go up to +29 while driving. My 1999 Tahoe seems to run just fine, but i have noticed my MPG has dropped. And i seem to have this weird electrical buzzing.. I plan on going through my ignition system this weekend and replacing plug wires.. but wouldnt my Tahoe be running really rough or not run at all if my timing was really +22 or +29? Could this be a computer problem?

You say it was running fine before the change ? I don't believe I would start replacing parts ie plug wires which has no effect on timing issue, if there is one ???????
Go thru your basic installation again and see if it's still there. If your using Bluetooth with a Android phone, try the app named TORQUE, see if you get same results.

The timing is controlled by the computer. Are you getting any trouble codes?

There is a procedure for setting the camshaft retard, but that’s usually only done when the distributor is removed and will throw a code if it’s too out of spec.

I’m using my iPhone to pull up the timing, both apps DashCommand & Car Scanner are both showing the same +22 at idle, then jumps all the way to +30 at times when driving..

No check engine light, & no codes pop up when I check the scanner. Truck runs good.

Starting to wonder if my sensor or computer is out of wack? Shouldn’t I be getting a check engine light, or atleast be running really rough at +30?
