Hello, I recently bought a 2005 Chevy LT Tahoe, with a few bugs for cheap and thought i would work them out myself. It seems to be stuck in 4 hi. The middle button showing 4 wheels (4 hi lock?) stays lit. The red neutral light does not come on in neutral, only at start up. If I push 4 low it blinks for a few seconds then stops.

So I did some reading and tried to replace the transfer case motor, that didn't work so I bought a new 4wd switch. Problem is everything shows me a 4wd switch for a 2005 Tahoe looks like the 4 button switch in the picture and mine only has three buttons, I tried to put in the 4 button switch and the longer plug fit but the smaller one didn't.

No sooner did I post this, my idea about AWD led to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-GM-OEM-...:2005|Model:Tahoe&hash=item20fd09f113&vxp=mtr

Someone told me they had to take it to the dealer (last resort) to have it reprogrammed. Another told me there can be a problem with a bad module under the drivers dash. I will wait to hear from someone before I buy the new one. I guess my question now is, what exactly is the difference and advantage or disadvantage to having AWD. Personally I like the options in the 4 button switch.
