stuck in 4Low

*2003 yukon slt 5.3 *
the 4low button is lit up but the vehicle is NOT actually in 4low. when i press and hold 2high it flashes then goes back to 4low. it also won't go into 4high, or Automatic .
no check engine light , no codes .

So as the thread topic the truck isn't actually stuck in 4lo just the indicators. Maybe the 4wd indicator switch on the xfer case isn't working. Thinks it's in 4lo and its not reading a change so it flashes indicating it thinks there is a problem.

i was just watching a video about the switch, do you really have to reprogram software after you install a new switch?

I've never had to in any gm vehicle 05 and up. I do unhook the battery for at least 30 min if the part takes shorter time than that. Numerous parts gm claims it needs to be reprogrammed for the new part when typically just disconnecting the battery and hooking it back up after the work has been done the ecm will do it itself.

Rockauto lists it as a transfer case range position sensor.
