Stupid Fuel Gauge

My 95 Tahoe has a issue that I'm sure many of you may have had. The fuel gauge reads really strange and is extremely fast and jumpy below 1/2 tank. The pump installed is a Airtex pump, and I have heard that is a issue.

I read on another forum about GM part number 12167652 that supposedly cures this issue, but it seems that part is no longer available.

Another option is to get the Delphi FG0038 pump for the Tahoe, which since it is new, should have a sender that is set up with that new part to eliminate the issue. I know also that the stepper motor could be bad, but there seems to be no source to repair those at all.

Anyone fix this yet?

you will still see lot of movement even with a new pump under 1/2 tank of fuel tho it will be a bit less. it is inherent of the tank design. welcome to the 4 door 30-gallon tank. you will be introduced to it again likely when you need to pull out the left leaf spring one day.

My gas gauge worked fine and didn't jump around at all...... Until i had a new ac delco fuel pump and sender installed last spring....SMH

I am kind of a newby on here, but if there is a tried and tested solution, why not make it a sticky?

I have seen few fixes for som3 people but if you want it to be highly accurate I would suggest you install new unit or do the reppace of the needle movment motor replacement or just install after market
