I'm thinking of doing some shallow mount subs in the lift gate on my 04 Denali. I have 2 small kids and need my room and seating. I don't want an 8 or a single 10. I am thinking of doing 2 10s or 12s in the lift gate.

Yes I know I will need to change out my lift struts to hold it up.

Has anyone done this?

Should be fairly easy if you're decent with fiberglass and bodywork. Expect a lot more rattle than a typical dual 10/12 sub setup since the pressure of the subs will be a part of the rear hatch instead of pushing against it. Are you planning on doing it ported or sealed? Take into account for how much airspace will be available for the subs, as that will determine the performance for whichever size you pick and whether ported or sealed will work better in that application.

Sound deaden to add mass will help with the rattling some.

I am still in the design phase. I've pulled everything apart and took measurements. Prob going to make a plug out of wood and filler then build a mold and pop it off in just glass to save weight. Again lots of details..lol
