I know I know, brown bear jason yada yada - nothing against them at all. I have been a superchips customer since I was 16 back when they were actual chips - they have always done well by me
Anyways - My Sierra was stolen a while back, 2004 5.3 2wd. All I had done was intake, Duals, and Superchips. Good gas millage and great performance. When my truck was stolen and recovered, the tuner was in the truck. I grabbed it purely for the CEL code reading, as I knew it was Vin Locked to the truck, and the ignition was busted so I couldnt "return to stock". I put the bag of stuff gathered from the stolen truck aside, I was bummed, I really loved that truck (insert country twang song here)
Anyhow, this last weekend I was cleaning the house and came across the bag - and my SuperChips flashpaq. I sent them an email, explained that the truck was stolen and the ignition disabled so I couldn't return to stock. Was it possible, with documentation that it was indeed stolen, to have it unlocked for use on my 2011 Yukon, or if not compatible, give it to my dad for his 2005 Sierra. Also included the model and serial number.
At the same time, I downloaded their new "Spark" update software, and performed an update. Afterwards, I see an unlock function for $100. I figure that's cool, at least I can do that if I don't hear back. Sure enough, this morning I get an email " update you tuner again, it will be unlocked " Awesome
That's good customer service - And there is a definite difference right off the bat, even with just the 87 tune. It's been rainy all day but I'll get to really get on it soon. I really like the ability to return to stock right away, change tire sizes and stuff in minutes, change to Tow mode in minutes, etc
I know they are not preferred here, but I thought I'd mention it anyways, for someone thinking about it, or anyone searching about a stolen car and would superchips send them an unlock - the answer is yes, send them documentation and the serial number
