you should if you can get a dial caliper with mounts and mount it to a moving part and put the dial probe tip against the connecting one. when you move the parts the dial will basically show you if there is bad play between them. usually if you jack up the frame to take some pressure off the front wheel, but not completely, then grab the top of wheel and push in and out ball joint damage will let that wheel tilt in and out of the wheel well like my upper left shows here

it that what you see one the wheel movement?
I will check this out when my truck gets out paint shop thank you and I will do tie rods first
