I have a 1999 CK2500 pick up wit only 140 km on it and the motor runs fantastic. On my new too me 98 Tahoe the motor has about 340 km and it looks like it's starting to burn the Rad fluid. Could I just do a swap from pick up to Tahoe?? Would I have to change anything in the PCM? Also the tranny in the PU is a 4L80e and the Tahoe is the 4L60e. Any issues with that??

you can move the whole package and custom mount the tranny cross mount and driveshafts and change the pcm system to recognize that package in a suv among other things. you can also just take the engine over and call it done and sell off the leftovers.

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on keeping both vehicles and I would just like to have the lower mileage engine in the Tahoe. If I just swap the engines would I need to do anything to the PCM on either of them?

since they would be the same engine size then no but use the tahoe engine flex plate and hardware stuff on the younger engine and keep the flex plate stuff from the 4l80e equipped truck with the truck for its next engine. there are different flex-plates used between the two tranny's.

Thanks again for the great info. Looking forward to spring to get this done. With the condition of the body and frame on the Tahoe with the lower mileage engine should last me another 20 years!

you can get a new gm block for 2k with free shipping a lot nowadays perhaps just give it a new one and not have to go search for another for the truck later. less work and you are already spending money anyways.

Yup I can get mine rebuilt for 1500 bucks but the other truck is paid for and the engine runs great. My Current one runs great too but I think it's buring rad fluid now as the level keeps going down and there are no leaks anywhere. No clouds of white smoke yet and the passenger floor is still dry so I'm guessing the lower intake gasket is going.
