Hello, I'm new here. I own a 2012 Tahoe and love it.

I've had the 3rd row seats out for a while since I have been moving furniture into my new house. I put them in last night and it just seems to drive better. Feels more sturdy.

However I am concerned I'll be filling up more often.

Has anyone else noticed their gas mileage considerably go up with the 3rd row seats in?

Thanks

I would think that weight would be imperceptable when measuring mpg. They weight less then a person. If you took seats out, but added a person, you'd be riding with more weight.

Their combined weight is maybe a little over 100 lbs, so I would think difference in gas mileage would be negligible. I guess a little bit of extra weight over the rear tires could be perceived as feeling "sturdier"

You are right, that extra weight probably does make the drive feel sturdier.

I appreciate the responses.

I never really worried about the .04 better mpg you probably get without the seats, I wandered if it would make my Tahoe faster without the seats lol

Same here. I like having the extra cargo room, didn't do it for the mileage...and it hasn't made a bit of difference anyway.

Scan cable from BBP arrives tomorrow. THAT will probably affect my mileage, and not in a good way lol.

I took mine out not for gas or anything, but simply because it's just my wife and I. I'm sure the gas savings are negligible. The only thing I noticed is some sort of squeaking back there when I go over bumps. Weird, but it only started after the seats came out.
