We've updated our vehicle reliability stats for the Tahoe, Yukon, and Suburban to include owner experiences through March 31, 2011.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2009: 56, about average, small sample size

2008: 87, about average, small sample size

2007: 87, about average

2006: 79, about average, very small sample size

2005: 102, about average

2004: 83, about average

2003: 86, about average

2002: 98, about average

2001: 146, about average

2000: 107, about average, very small sample size

1999: 160, worse than average, small sample size

We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants we could provide more precise results for all model years from 1995 on.

Somewhat confused by what the definition of "repairs" is? Can I change one tire a week and consider that 4 repairs? What about repairing my modified suspension? I don't this this works very well except for people who have factory spec vehicles and replacing with factory spec or better parts.

Do you often change one tire a week, for four or more weeks?

We've put a fair amount of thought into these stats over the past seven years. Tires are entirely excluded. Problems caused by mods are also excluded. I am concerned about the quality of non-OEM replacement parts, but no reliability survey has a good way around that one. One consequence is that by the time cars are old enough for replacement parts to typically need replacing the stats are probably less accurate than they are for newer cars.
