It was (maybe is still) popular in the retrofitter scene to mod/make new cut off shields in order to modify where the hotspot sits, create a sharper cut off line, create a rainbow effect at the cut off line, increase or decrease foreground limiters. All different reasons really, whether it was for vanity or performance for their specific application. I know I’d sure like to get rid of some of my foreground in order to gain some distance.
