I have a 2007 Tahoe and am trying to determine how to remove and replace the Control Unit that is located in the rear top of the center console that controls heat, a/c and the DVD. I have seen pictures of a console that has been removed from the vehicle, but it doesn't appear that removing the console will allow access to the Control Panel for removal. Does the rear section of the console pop off allowing access to the two fastners which secure the Control Unit and the associated electrical connectors? I would sure appreciate some suggestions on how to remove and replace the Control Unit.

I had to replace mine. The surrounding panel is held on by clips and I think 2 screws. You have to open the fold-down cupholder to get to them. Once they're off, you can disconnect the harnesses. Then you just remove the 4 screws on the controls and it's off.
