Hi all,

I am new to the forum, and have not yet purchased a truck but I am looking. We are expecting a 3rd kiddo so have decided to sell the 325xi Wagon and go for a larger 3rd row truck that can double for hauling. Many of my family members have Tahoes so I am familiar with them in a basic sense. I am looking for some advice on what packages I should be looking for, and "if you knew then what you know now" what you would have looked for.

I have selected this model/year because it seems to have the best price to value rate. I am looking to spend 10-15k, and I know I want heated leather seats, towing and 3rd row.

I appologize if this information is located someplace and I missed it. I poked around but didn't see a buyers guide. Thanks for the help.

Having the third row at times can be irritating because if room is needed then I have to remove the seats (either 1 or both) and the space behind the eats and between the rear hatch is small. I ride with one seat removed and have enough space to toss things in the back and keep it moving.

Spend time looking online ( I found my baby on Autotrader) and you will come across a fantastic deal. The only thing I missed out on was a sunroof. Also, not that I needed it, 4wd. That truck sold by time I got to dealership, but the one I ended up getting had 25K fewer miles on it.

I was unaware of packages when I first started looking, but (like you) knew I had to have leather, 3rd row, sat radio and a sunroof

Welcome John!
When you say "hauling" are you referring to towing something like a camper/boat?
The Tahoe/Yukon will do the trick, but depending on how much weight you want to tow. The Escalades and Denalis have a nice 6.0 litre engine with tons of power, BUT they are full time AWD so combine that with the bigger engine and they are a little more gas thirsty. I had a 2002 Yukon with the 5.3 Litre, and it was nice don't get me wrong, but I love my 06 Denali's 6.0 so much more.
As mentioned the 3rd seats can be a bit of a PITA; actually they come out very easily, but are heavy and bulky to store somewhere they wont get damaged. If you plan on leaving the 3rd row in, and still want any storage space, I would look at the XL/Suburban models. My Denali is not an XL and with the 3rd row in, there is very little storage, as the seats are nearly up against the back door. I don't have kids, so my 3rd resides in my basement.

Good Luck!

welcome, look for a 5.3 if you do plan to haul, SLT and get an 05-06 model. Check to see if any tranny work has been completed, as that is the weak link.
