tahoe wont warm to operating temperture

Hey everyone, my 1999 tahoe wont ever heat up to full operating temp. im wondering if anyone hasan idea what the cause is and if this will have effect on my performance( i have lots of heat through the vents)

^This. just had the same issue replaced the thermostat and problem solved. Cheap part also. Adv auto (or similar) will have what you need

even though i have a butt load of heat when the heater is on?

The coolant still gets plenty hot enough for the heater with the t-stat stuck open. Its a cheap part, even if it isn't the cause its worth replacing as regular maintenance.

Your gauge could just be off though.

Your gauge could just be off though.

If it's any kin to the fuel gauge it will be off.....
