I've got a 95 Tahoe and currently it has some aftermarket tail lights on it APC is the brand I think, I kinda want to pick up some oem tail lights and tint them so it goes with my blacked out theme, my question is right now the pulbs just pop in and u turn it so they lock in, is the oem tail light the same way? cause ive heard something about the tail lights having a circut board idk if im missing that and it was re-wired or if that doesnt even have anything to do with this, thanks for the help

Ok wait, so now I'm confused. My trucks OEM tail lights have the circuit boards. I thought that all OBS trucks had circuit boards. Are you saying that some trucks just have bulbs on pigtails stock from the factory? I know he said his aftermarket tails had the bulbs, but you made it sound like I could get OEM tails with bulbs instead of the circuit boards?

Ok, cool. Thanks guys! The general idea is that some years had pigtails, but most have the circuit board.

Has anyone converted from circuit board to pigtails?

It should be easy to do, all the same wiring would have to be there for the circuit board, splice in a donor set of pigtails and tail lights

Ok, so I called around the Junk Yards looking for a set of donor stock taillights with pigtails. Nothing, they all laughed at me. They said that all OBS taillights came with CB. Two different kinds over the years, but they all have CB's. No pigtails in the sockets, ever. Nice.

So last night I took one of mine off and removed the circuit board to see what I can see. I found three round holes with no tabs. I also rummaged through our shops's bins and found some new pigtails that would friction fit into the holes, but a test fit on the truck shows that they are too long and prevent the taillight from installing correctly without cutting a hole in the fender.

All of this grief because I'm working on a Christmas present to myself. :)

At this point, I am now looking into aftermarket tails. My wishlist includes preferably LEDS for the signal, brake and running lights, and (big hint here) a socket for the reverse light bulb, with enough room for pigtails!

Anyone have any ideas?

EDIT: I've found this set. I kinda like em.
