TCC Slip Speed Issue

I thought the same thing at first and I replaced both front hubs. A few weeks went by and I ran over a tree branch and it broke the wire on the right hub so I figured quick fix get a new sensor an I'm done but that wasn't the case so now I'm willing to try Skeletoy's solution and hopefully it works out.

Hmm, well did the new wheel bearings fix your issues in the beginning? Maybe your new sensor didn't pan out right.


Skeletoy, when your young lady's Tahoe started sputtering, did it feel exactly like it does when the traction control goes off (like in a slippery snow road situation)? Or was it more like a tranny shutter comming from the tranny?

I changed the hubs because they were worn and making noise not for this reason. At the time it would only do this traction thing once in a while but it recently started doing it everyday now and it's very annoying.

Sorry this is a little late guys.

From GM:

Solenoid PWM - P/N 24227792
Converter Clutch Solenoid - P/N 24234138

They both come up on RockAuto as well. There are 3 brands for the PWM, one of them being ACDelco. The converter clutch solenoid on RockAuto is ACDelco. I'm not positive what brand the stealership carries but I would assume ACDelco. Rockauto is 15-20 bucks cheaper on both of them.



When it was happening on my wife's truck it was distinctly coming from the transmission area. I thought it may be a diff/traction issue at first, but after duplicating it to try and pinpoint I realized there's no way it could have been. The surging was happening the same way wether I was going from a stop or cruising down the highway at 65. The diff would obviously be spinning faster at highway speeds would change the frequency of the slip so I ruled that out.

That being said, the best way I could explain the feeling is if I were in a truck with a manual trans and repeatedly pushed the clutch in and let it off. The TCC was just letting the power slip off and on until I hit the throttle or brake. I also noticed the surge more whent the trans was warmed up.

EDIT: It's been about 2 weeks since I replaced the parts and the issue has not repeated. OLYELR, I completely understand not wanting to throw parts at it. From my searches through the internet, Mitchell, and ALLData, I really didn't find much helpful info and decided to give it a shot. It was worth a shot to me since the oil/filter needed serviced anyway and I didn't feel like paying the dealship's rate to troubleshoot.

Thank for the P/N's skeletoy, I forgot to ask earlier but did you do the work yourself? I've never messed with a trans before and wanted to know if it was worth it to take to a trans shop and get this done along with a vette servo.

Yes sir. I turn wrenches for a living but it's a straight forward job that you should be able to tackle. If you decide to do it let me know if you have any questions, I can wlk you through it. I haven't done the vette servo but I would imagine it's simple as well.

Alright, some good info guys. Lotsa food for thought.

The only reason I am thinking my wifes Denali is having a different issue is because it acts EXACTLY like the traction control is going off, more-so than the tranny shuttering.

Have you guys experienced the traction control "going off" before? If so, was your "shutter" anything like that?

I haven't experienced the traction control issue.

A: Since it's the wife's I drive it maybe once a week to the store and that's it.
B: I live in the desert so traction is generally not a problem!
