Does anyone think it is worthwhile to have a tech 2? Have an 07 Denali and it looks like a lot of stuff could go wrong eventually....

If you work on your own vehicles a lot then yes.

I spent about $2000 several years back and it has more than paid for itself in troubleshooting. Outside of the emissions part of the vehicle you won't be able to troubleshoot without a good scanner. Things like the BCM, airbag, entertainment system, ABS, etc aren't accessible without a high quality tool like the Tech II.

I also have 5 GM vehicles, so it gets quite a bit of use.

Also, beware of the Chinese knockoffs you'll find on eBay. These are expensive tools and there are horror stories out there about them either failing soon after purchase or worse, taking out your car's computer. These tools were about $5000 brand new, so a $500 new unit from eBay isn't going to be the real deal.
