??????????? from the 80's? tons of these trucks have telescoping columns, just not on the gmt800's that I am aware of all 3 of ours have telescoping my denali has (motorized) telescoping, my silverado has telescoping and the wifes suburban has telescopingI believe these were discontinued due to the addition of airbags. So you'd have to either use a custom setup, or a steering column from like the '80s... Good luck, though. This is interesting, if nothing else.
May I ask why you are interested in a telescoping wheel?
Get a truck with the movable pedals!!! Our LT Suburban 2500 and Escalade have them.I know that some later model GM trucks have airbags with telescopic columns. I'm 6'2" and mostly legs. If I get my legs relaxed my arms are straight. If I get my arms relaxed my knees are in my chin. Either way sucks for anything but the shortest trips. I either need to move the steering wheel back or the pedals forward (adjustable pedals are fully forward). Telescopic column seems like the easiest remedy.
I sit corrected (I won't stand for this!!!??????????? from the 80's? tons of these trucks have telescoping columns, just not on the gmt800's that I am aware of all 3 of ours have telescoping my denali has (motorized) telescoping, my silverado has telescoping and the wifes suburban has telescoping
I don't think it would be easy to convert though, you would have to bypass security on the ignition and likely rewire the blinker, hazard, shifter, wiper, high beam, rear wiper, clock spring, yaw sensor, airbag, (horn would probably be the easiest part.)
