If you haven't been watching the news the Miami area is facing gas shortages due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Irma.

All of the stations have a wait of 45min to 2 hours to fill up.

As I was searching for a station that even had gas I remember that my Yukon is Flex Fuel.
Found a station that had E-85, filled up in less than 5 mins.

For any fellow Floridians remember that if you have a yellow gas cap you can use E-85.

I have a black gas cap, but there's a sticker behind the fuel door that says E-85. Did they run out of the yellow caps the day they built mine?

Mine has a black gas cap so I’m guessing I can’t use E85 but never have.

Not going anywhere..Very hard to find fuel once you leave the Turnpike and get on I-75 or I-95 for days now..People were actually pulling guns on one another waiting for fuel as tempers are at their worst now..Thankful no one was shot.

Took me most of the day today to find a parking spot in a garage..There were none in Miami or Broward..Ended up finding one at the Palm Beach Airport which is completely out of my way..Had to take a car service to get home..At least the service car was a Suburban.

The useless Governor said he would he get fuel trucks to a most stations with police escorts to get them there quicker..Never happened..Did not see one police ****** with a fuel truck all week.

Heat index is around 107 with the jungle humidity so it will be no fun when the power goes out.

All I could do is pray for the best.

I think deep down you really miss Miami.

Same here, folks got crazy trying to fuel up. I filled the tank on Monday evening and avoided the craziness. Had friends leave Miami to Port Charlotte & Tampa only to return in a rush. Did see some Troopers escorting tankers but that was the last bit of gas deliveries. Hopefully they can refuel all stations and get back to normalcy. It has been hot all week so hope everyone gets the power back ASAP.

my dumba$$ would completely forget that I can take e85. maybe if I start searching filling stations in my area, it will stick in the front of my mind. Would have come in pretty handy last week over here in Dallas when ran low

you can look it up by your VIN; that's how I know my truck is flex fuel. I have a black filler cap as well. GM started using yellow after a certain MY.

Don't forget, those who bought their trucks used, someone down the line may have replaced the cap with a black one. Mine came with a broken locking gas cap. Gave the lady at the dealer my VIN and she gave me this yellow cap, never had one of them before, but it is what came on my 2009 with the LC9.

E85 capable V8 LS engines:

Gen III motors - 5.3 - L59
Gen IV motors - 6.2 - L99, 6.2 - L94, 6.2 - L9H, 6.0 - L77, 6.0 - L96, 4.8 - L20, 5.3 - LMG, 5.3 - LC9
Gen V motors - 5.3 - L83

About 2 months ago we had a large woodland fire just a couple miles as the crow flies over the hills into the high desert at the base of the mountains where I live. It burned a power transformer up out at our transfer station and knocked power out through most of the big bear valley. No power and a fire sent everyone into a frenzy. I had forgot to put gas in my truck while I was in town the day before all the craziness happened. And then when power went down and put me out of work for the day I realized I needed gas so I went into town and it was sorta like what you guys are describing. Only a couple of gas stations in the valley had power and everyone was there. I waited about 15 minutes to gas and fortunately had cash on me but it was crazy! Tempers ran high! Good luck everyone on that end of the country!
