when the dealer does the water pump it's a mr goodwrench service which means it has a lifetime warranty, that used to mean parts & labor, a few years back they changed it to just parts, so now if it goes out again you only pay labor. the cost is usually about $5xx.00, dealer price is about $250 for the pump and the rest is labor and fluids. so the 2nd time around you only pay labor & fluids which is about $250
when I had my engine replaced I had them install a new water pump which automatically gave me the mrgoodwrench warranty and no additional labor since it was part of the engine replacement so if it ever goes out I only have to pay the labor and fluids which is about what it would cost me to do it myself anyway if not under warranty.
good to know. I’m just trying to get her to 300k and then I’m putting her to bed if the tire goes flat. I got well over my moneys worth from this beast. First car I bought. Walked into the dealership with $300 in my pocket and financed the rest at 0% APR. it has tons of sentimental value but I have to except the inevitable
