In my new to me 2001 Tahoe the key chime keeps dinging when you're driving it has anyone else had this problem before if so how do I go about fixing it or disabling the damn chime its the most annoying thing. The 05 Silverado at my work does it too and I can not figure out why they keep dinging.

The issue resides in the ignition switch where the key sits. So either new switch OR pull the chime which should be a box (might be black) just to the right of the emergency brake pedal that is plugged into an area on the interior firewall. With that said, at some point the chime started coming through the speakers and I'm not sure when that started. If that's the case with this one then that has made the fix a bit more complicated.

Pretty sure 03+ chimes started in the speakers. Howevery old 2000 you could pull the key out while running lol and it never dinged unless the door was opened and truck was off

That worked guys thanks for the info. Couple more questions the headlights don't turn on automatically and it has two sensors on top of the dash. The rear seatbelt on the passenger side won't let me pull it out so I'm going to attempt to fix it.
