A kenwood with a lot of numbers and letters after it. Its pretty sweet so far. It has a motorized face so it can take a cd wich i like. Whatever technology the screen has seems to be the same as the modern smart phones. The image and touch screen abilities are simular to my samsung note 10

I had one of those double DIN Kenwoods installed in mine about a year and a half ago. I had trouble at first with insufficient memory, or processing power, or something.

I had 9000+ MP3s loaded on a USB drive. The songs were loaded twice-- one was as a single folder with all music loaded alphabetically. The other was a folder for each band/artist. My normal choice is the big alphabetical folder, but the Kenwood could only go between a few hours and two days before it'd lose its place and restart at the first song.

I finally deleted all the individual folders and, since then, it's doing fine. I do wish it had a volume knob instead of those two arrows though. They're tiny and feel just like the surrounding unit, so you can't work them by feel.

Have you noticed any quirks with yours?

I have double DIN Kenwood head units in 2 of my vehicles, and they have performed very well for me. The Andriod Auto works flawlessly, except on certain times when Android makes an update to the phone app, and sometimes that forces me to reconfigure the connections between the phone and head unit.

I like to have my music on my USB stick in a nested folder structure, with the top line folders by genre, then sub-folders by artist, then sub-sub-folders by album or specific personal song collection. I had to use a software utility to format the content on the USB stick after copying the music to it, so that my desired nested folder structure would be preserved and recognized by the Kenwood head unit.

Been a long time coming, I havent had my sub and amps in a vehicle for about 3 years... maybe more. I'm going to try to do this like a build thread and document nicely what I do... we'll see how well that works haha. I'm just starting to hoard parts here is what I have so far. 1998 2 door tahoe by the way.

from my previous vehicle
12" jl audio w7 in the pro wedge box
jl hd 1200x1 amp
jl hd 600x4 amp
jl bass knob

bought specifically for the tahoe
metra 95-3003g double din dash kit

Progress will be slow but it should be interesting. I'm making a custom amp rack, putting 6x9's in the back component 6.5's in the front and a backup camera. Also considering doing some... or a lot of sound deadening.
Possible dual alternator, high output alternator or extra battery maybe both. I know these amps will dim the headlight on a optima yellow top so I have to do something

It's retired now, but I still have a Pioneer H-R100 DOLBY 8-track recorder I bought in '74 or '75; and 1 unopened blank tape to keep it company.

I barely remember the recordable 8 tracks. If you would've said reel to reel, well now that's just antique!!

Nice! I've still got my hybrid 8-track / cassette player, though it has not seen use in decades.

Got most of it mapped out. Cant decide what to do for rear speakers so just going fronts and sub for now
