So I've heard that the spare tire has a TPMS sensor valve in it. How do we view this or turn it on? Is it like adding the afterblow feature to the HVAC module, where you have to go into the setup and add the feature?
My Tech2 shows an option for the spare on the TPMS menu, and it was active on mine. However, if the spare has a sensor, it is different from the type on the other 4 wheels, as it doesn't have the threaded valve stem. When I read the tire pressures with the Tech2, it shows a pressure for the spare, but it stays at 46psi and never changes. I've checked the pressure in my spare with a tire gauge and it is 34psi, so I'm not sure where the TPMS system is getting that reading from. Also, the Tech2 displays the serial number of each sensor and the spare tire sensor has fewer digits than the others, so that would seem to indicate that there is a sensor, but it is a different type. I've seen no way to make this display on the DIC, but I have the Torque app configured to display the TPMS for all 4 wheels and had the spare on the display for a while, but since it never changed with temperature like the others and didn't agree with my tire gauge I finally removed it from the display.
Also not sure how to learn the spare TPMS sensor, as a fifth wheel isn't allowed with the normal learn procedure and I don't recall seeing a way to learn it with the Tech2. Maybe that's why the serial number is different, so it doesn't have to be learned.
