The needles on the dash really need to be calibrated.

Just do them yourself. I hope you took pictures of what the needles looked like when your engine was at idle.

I have a scanner so I can just hook that up and install the needles according to what the scanner tells me.

You can take the needles off and re-install them if you have the ****** to do so.

I now know there is no fuel light.

When I first bought it I had no idea how far I could go on a tank so I was working on that, when the fuel gauge got to below a quarter tank, it was empty. I get gas at about half a tank now.
