I had accidently used 5W30 that I use for my Explorer. I got the tick a month after switching back to 10W30.
I do plan on replacing that O-ring you mention for the oil pump or oil pick up tube. In the meantime, do you think it would be better to use the 5W30 (synthetic) or continue with the 10W30?
As I recall, Ford changed they recommendation from 10w30 to 5W30 to get the oil to the valve train better on the 4.6L VVT V8. Even though my 5.3L isn't VVT, I wonder if 5W30 would be better for similar reasons.
