Was driving yesterday and heard a loud bang. Then i rolled the window down and heard a constant thump while i was driving. The gears in my rear end are done.

I see posts about guys puttin' beefier rear ends in these things... probably best thing to do in the long run.

i have a set of 4.56s i am putting in tomorrow.
are you talking about a full axel swap?

Nah, just the gears.... especially runnin' larger than OEM tires. @ least that's what most are sayin' on here.

ive always heard the 10 bolt is one of the main weak links in these trucks. is there a factory rear end that is stronger, with the same dimensions? i had some mention the rear end out of a late 80s-early 90s 2500. anybody know anything about that?

so it ended up not being my gears, but my axel shaft snapped.

i can't get a new one in till wednesday :/

Do u tow a lot or pull heavy loads in it? That's the only thing I can think of that might case some stress on the axles aside from the bigger tires. 4.56's will be a great upgrade

i was pulling out of my friends back yard on to the asphalt and got some wheel spin, then when my big ol' 37s grabbed the asphalt there was no forgiveness. But its all good, live and learn haha
