Well, I no longer have that job. The money was gonna be great. A paper check on every Friday that was not gonna effect my taxes and a cash payment of over $500.

The problem(s). The office and shop at the lot was a pig sty and very cluttered and had crap stacked everywhere. I cannot deal with all that. There was stacks of old tires everywhere in the shop area. The 3 techs/mechanics at the lot where a motley crew. One guy was a recovering alcoholic and meth head that was nice enough if you could get by his 4 teeth in his mouth. Another one looked and acted like he was on something but could not pin it down. The software program was easy enough to navigate thru but was slow as a dial up connection. The filth in the sales building and at my desk area was terrible. I did not get to see all this at the interview. The remote second shop was like a heavy line shop. My cup of tea. 3 bays and 3 two post lifts. Two techs that knew what they were doing but, big BUT here, one of them was allowed to smoke pot when he wanted to.

I left early, I was not even obligated to start till today, and I talked to my girl and then called and told the owner that I did not want the job. I explained why, as easy as I could and hid some of my concerns. Then he inundated me with texts asking me to reconsider and I was a perfect fit and he would change things at the shops and office.......... I politely said no and thanked him for the opportunity.

That is a day in my life I will never get back. I let some of the people know about me not taking the job after all, that I work on there cars, and they were happy.

The plus side to all of this is, I talked about not taking the job to my friend that has his shop in Junction City. He said he had meant to talk to me about something and got my new job message the day before I went yesterday. Anyway, he said he could use me about 2-3 days a week as a service writer and controlling flow into and out of shop and working computer and answering phones and help when needed in the shop. Never an 8 hour day and never 5 days a week. Cash only. I am gonna wait him out to do that. I still have work to do here in between time.

So, one of my friends from the AL, with the 2011 Tundra that I am doing the weatherstrip seals on, called yesterday and had CEL and traction control lights on. I pulled codes P0171, P0174 for both banks showing lean and P0159 for slow sensor 2 bank 2 reaction time. Also complaining about loss of power. Almost thought the worst and suspected clogged cat converters and sensors problems. He asked what worse case scenario was for all that and was $1155.00 at RA with shipping and 5% off, plus labor. I also told him I wanted time to inspect because I was perplexed that both banks showed lean at the same time. That typically means something is causing that and effecting both banks and makes no sense that would be cat converters. He was in a hurry and drove off after I cleared codes and he said the lights came on 1/2 way home, about 15 minutes away. He went to work and dreaded what I would find all day and got here around 2. I found the problem within 2 minutes of popping hood. He had recently had the dealer do an oil change and told them not to mess with the air filter but the fingerprints at the air filter cover/top told me they had messed with it. I suspected something like a completely clogged filthy air filter, unplugged MAF but then as I followed the air tube to the intake area, I saw the problem. He has a TRD performance air filter and snorkel set up. The hard tube that pushes in to the rubber boot at the intake area was pushed up to the boot but not inside of it and was not being held by clamp. I loosened clamp and pushed the tube in it enough to allow for the clamp to tighten and hold properly and tightened the rest of them. All sealed up and clamps all tight. I cleared codes and went on a road test with him for about 4-5 miles. No lights and lots of power. He was real happy. I just charged him $20.

We had the problems with the aftermarket weatherstrip seals for the front doors and he ordered them from the dealer and left unhappy but I did not charge him anything. The dealer parts were on back order and did not know when coming in. I found both front door strips on ebay and are OE parts. The pair, with free shipping, is the same price as one from the dealer. The new parts are to be here Saturday. I told him the labor would be a normal charge when I do them. He is happy about the OE parts savings and his truck is running fine and no cats and sensors. The guy thinks I am the "shit" now. I laugh but he could not stop thanking me.

By the way, I sent the aftermarket weatherstrips back to RA and did get my money back, minus about $7.50 for return shipping.
