Worked on a 2015 Ford Escape today. PITA. 1.6 turbo. Did serpentine belt and tensioner and idler. Did plugs, ignition coils, valve cover gasket, new o-rings on the two VVT solenoids and cleaned the injectors and installed new o-rings on them. The whole thing took 7 hours. Had to remove the right front wheel well cover and the top motor mount for access. Lots of stuff to remove to allow valve cover to come off, including the fuel rail. Almost forgot: found a small rock imbedded in the grooves of the tensioner pulley and a rodent's nest behind the wheel well cover.

Likely one of the top 5 worst engines ever built. Amazingly, 3 of the top 5 are all Ford Ecoboost engines.

Worked on a 1.5 Ford Fusion Ecoboost the other day. Its no better than that 1.6.

So much crap in the way of just doing a valve cover gasket. 9 out of 10 of them leak and the sure sign is the oil on the ignition coil boots. It wasn't really hard to do all of it, but it was tedious. The real PITA was the belt/tensioner/idler replacement. If you have big hands it is difficult. The easiest way to do it is the way I did it but is a lot of steps and dismantling just to do the belt and other components. Before I removed the upper motor mount and jacked the engine up a bit, I could not get a Snap On shallow 10mm 1/4" drive socket and small Snap On 1/4" ratchet on the one attaching bolt head of the idler pulley. There was no room to unthread if you happened to get that combination on the head of the bolt. I used a long reach 10mm combination wrench and had to unbolt the a/c lines bracket and lift and put a block of wood in there to hold, just to get my fingers in there to unthread. Going back in with the new idler and getting the bolt started took a whole other form of luck. The tensioner install was easy when engine was jacked up and the routing of the belt was not bad.

Note: Best to route the belt on to the tensioner pulley before you tighten the assembly down. There is MAYBE 1/4" clearance between the back of the tensioner and the timing cover when you tighten the tensioner down.

Thankfully, the cowling is a 2 piece removal, for access, and is quite easy to do. 4 bolts, 8 clips, 2 screws that hold the brake master cylinder reservoir and wiper arm removal.

Just finished a 2012 Camry SLE Hybrid. Oil change, filter change, cabin air filter was filthy with a nest, air filter, complained of hard to see on low beams. I agreed. Neither bulb worked. Checked power and ground, all good. 2 bad bulbs. Don't see that often. Replaced wiper blades. Kicked it out the door.

Tomorrow is a 2018 Camry Hybrid oil change and wipers and whatever I see it needs.

The first Camry is the landlord's daughter and the one tomorrow is the landlord's sister.

Just from him alone, I have a stable of 10 vehicles to keep up on.

My neighbor across the street has 3 vehicles. Neighbor at end of street has 2 vehicles. Next door, on each side is 1 vehicle each.

Plus 6 vehicles from the American Legion and 2 motorcycles.

Plus my own stable of 3 here at home.
