Are you talking about an internal tranny belt or the drive belt?

Sorry to Hijack this thread, but it was the closest to what I have happening...Grocery Getter is your noise getting worse?

My 02 yukon, 122k miles, 5.3L (stock tranny): same mouse squeak when shifts into second under any condition (hard accel, light accel doesn't matter) I can hear it when shifting the column shifter from 3 to 2 or from 1 to 2, while sitting in the driveway). Hear it while driving only when it shifts from 1st to second...too much noise to know if it happens when it downshifts when slowing down. Tranny has had fluid change every 30-50k over it's life, and seems to shift smoothly under any condition. Any idea if this is something to worry about? Thanks for any input.

Change your belts, did the trick for me.......... most likely AC belt but if you have never changed any of them might was well do the serpentine and AC at the same time....

I never would've guessed one of the drive belts given the scenario of occurring only going into 2nd gear. Thought for sure it was the tranny. Serpentine belt done last year with water pump. For some reason, completely forgot to change ac belt :emotions122:. It has cracks on the inside track, but the outer layer looks good. Serpentine belt was OK to change even without water pump...how hard is ac belt by itself, or does everything else have to come off first? Man, this forum is great!

I know it`s not the same transmisson but my girlfriend has a 95 olds aurora, it has a performance button on the shifter and when you do a wot pull it will chirp the tires on the 1-2 shift and make a noise like you describe every time and it`s had no problems.

I barely drive the car but when i do i beat the shit out of it at every light, It gets alot of looks when a 4 door luxury car chirps the tires.

Easy.... just release the tensioner and pull the serpentine then the AC..... 15 min job tops.......
