What is the factory temp setting for a thermostat for a 2019 Yukon w/5.3L? Is it 207 degrees? Drove 25 miles today and it seems like the t-stat is opening around 197 (per the gauge which I know could be off). I wonder if this could be affecting my oil life indicator if it is sensing the engine is never getting up to full operating temps? As I mentioned in a previous thread, I went from 100% to 15% oil life in 1100 miles in about 10 months of driving.

Dang, was it a ton of short trips? That will cut the oil life down for sure, but I never let it go below 45 - 50% which usually equals about 5k miles.

I believe the factory thermostat on these is 190 - 195F. Your guage seems to be correct. If you can, double check with an OBD2 scanner to see what the ECM is reading. A faulty temp sensor can fool the ECM into over fueling to keep the motor warm. Your thermostat is just a mechanical device that moves on its own.

Another thing you can do is use an IR gun and see what the upper hose reads after driving for awhile and letting it idle while you check it. It won't be exactly 190F, but should be close if there's no wind blowing across it.

The oil change algorithm will not be a thing most of us place any stock in. It’s quite possible, the timeframe played a major part in the drastic number change. Your engine would be much happier with changes by odometer at a number less than 5kish.
