Hey guys, my tahoe was broken into and the thieves broke the reclining action in the driver seat so it no longer locks into place. Does anyone know how to fix that, or how to get inside the chair without destroying the upholstery and foam?

unknown at this time.
have not tried and know of no one who has tried. instead of the spring action of the lever can you move to lock it manually while moving the seat back?

The backrest just freely slams back to the back seat or forward to steering wheel. It makes it undrivable unless I roll down the window and hold on to the mirror or door frame. Im thinking the gears were broken inside the chair and just really dont want to buy new seats or take it to a chevy dealership. I feel like theyll rip me off or say they cant do anything because of its age.

The seat back upholstery is usually just a plastic ziplock clip looking thing at the bottom, just pry it apart and then work the upholstery up the seat rolling it up and off like a sock. Its tough but you can do it. Its the only it comes off, but you should be able to roll it up enough to see the recline componenets and see which parts need to be replaced. You can probably pickt them up at a junkyard cheap.
